SPECTRA SERIES
The SPECTRA Series combines brilliant candy colors with advanced, high-solids urethane technology in a completely interchangeable system that provides the power to create a truly unique, one-of-a-kind work of art. Extensive research and detailed color studies led Kirker Automotive Finishes to develop nine candy colors which can be used in their original crisp, clean, pure tones, or mixed in any combination to create an unlimited number of custom variations.
SPECTRA Series candy colors can be applied over any of Kirker’s factory-packaged paints, though pearl and metallic colors will provide the most exciting effects. The brightest, most vivid effect possible is achieved using UCB01 Quicksilver Base.
To ensure maximum intercoat adhesion and unparalleled paint system integrity from substrate to surface, use SPECTRA Series candy colors in combination with Kirker’s PERFECT-PRIME 2K urethane primer, ULTRA-GLO paints and UCC500 CUSTOM Clear. Whether used for accent or a complete refinish, the SPECTRA Series puts the power to customize any vehicle in your hands. The only limit is your creativity.
Mix one quart of SPECTRA Series urethane candy or base with one half-pint of 0175 Activator/Reducer. While additional reducer is not required, it may be used to aid in the flow and leveling. Chose the right urethane-grade reducer depending on shop temperature.
Apply SPECTRA Series Base in two (2) medium wet coats, allowing sufficient flash time between each. A third coat may be fogged as necessary to set even metallic pattern.
Apply SPECTRA Series candy colors in wet coats until reaching desired effect, allowing sufficient flash time between each. NOTE: Number of coats will effect appearance of color. For darker shades, apply more coats.
UCC500 CUSTOM Clear may be applied over SPECTRA Series candy colors as soon as the final color coat has had sufficient time to flash, or before 18 hours. After recoat window has passed, candy colors must first be scuff sanded prior to clearcoat application.
At 70° F, SPECTRA Series candy colors should be set to touch within 20 minutes, ready to wet sand in four hours and fully cured within 24 hours.
Pot life for mixed material is one to two hours, depending on temperature and humidity.
